Two books are required for this course. They are both available at UNC student stores.
  1. Gravetter, F.J. & Wallnau, L.B. (2000). Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences (5th Ed.). New York: West.

  2. This textbook is a comprehensive treatment of basic statistical methods in Psychology which covers issues such as data description, the logic of hypothesis testing, and inferential parametric and nonparametric tests.

With the lectures, the textbook will serve as your primary source of understanding the details of the statistical methods covered in this class, as well as their application to various experimental and non-experimental designs.

  3. Young, F.W. (2001) How to Use ViSta. (available from student stores)

  4. This monograph describes how to use ViSta, a statistical analysis and visualization system which was designed and written by your professor specifically to help you learn statistics more easily. ViSta provides analysis and visualization methods for describing and exploring data and for inferential parametric tests.
