Lhasa is the heart and soul of Tibet.
- The Potala, the Abode of the Dalai Lamas, and Jokhang, the Country's most holy site, are in Lhasa.
Lhasa is disappointing. One feels cheated of the expected mystique. It is not a pretty city, nor is it that interesting, other than the sites mentioned above.
- Too high, too remote, too poor to be beautiful. It is very difficult to maintain life in Lhasa, and the city shows it.
- The University, which we visited, is very very poor.
- Chinese military convoys bring food, cloathing and supplies to the people.
