Barkhor is the area that surrounds the Jokhang Temple, the most sacred site in Tibet.

Barkor is a Market Bazaar, with hundreds of stalls, markets, shops and street vendors selling every conceivable thing.

Barkhor is also one of the four holy circumambulations in Lhasa. Pilgrims use Barkor to circle clockwise around the Jokhang Temple.

People bring their Yaks and Cattle here to walk around the temple before they are slaughtered, so that their next life will be better than the life of a Yak or Cow.
